How to make it so that your employees can pick up a shift even if it will cause them to go into overtime

Open shifts in Covr are by default not overtime eligible. This means that if an employee tries to pick up a shift that will put them into overtime for the week, the app will block them from being able to pick it up.

However, there might be cases where you want to allow your employees to pick up any shift, regardless of how much overtime they have for the week. To do this, you will want to make shifts Overtime Eligible. There are two different ways you can do this:

  1. Schedule

Using either the single day or the multi day tools, select the shift(s) you want to make overtime eligible. You must first fill in the box that says Assign To (with an employee name, Open shift, or Unassigned), which will then make the employee details visible.

Under employee details, check the box that says OT Eligible.

  2. To-Do List
Another option to make shifts overtime eligible is through the To-do list on the Insights page.

Step 6 of the To-do list allows you to Manage/Incentivize Open Shifts.

Find the shift you would like to make overtime eligible and change the OT Eligible dropdown to Yes.

All overtime eligible shifts will be outlined on the schedule with a red box.
